My heart grew heavy this morning upon receiving the call from his brother Danny with the news. I was blessed to have grown up living across the street from Mike and the Amos family, Mike was like a brother to me. For many of us, their home was the center of our neighborhood. There was always a ballgame or competition of some variety taking place in the backyard, or the street, and Mike was right in the center of all the action. We spent long hours talking about life, family and growing up during our teenage years, then were able to renew those conversations more recently. He will be missed by many. I'll think fondly of Mike recalling happy memories of his beautiful smile and big hugs. Rest in Peace my Brother.
Mike called Eunice and I to ask how he could help for our 20th reunion. He was not feeling great but wanted to help. We asked if he could put together music for the pre-party and he brought me the best CD mix of our 4 years at Heights ever! Eun and I used all of it for our 40th slide show and I still listen to it when I need a little nostalgia of our high school memories. He will be missed.
This makes me so sad. He was always so interested in all our reunion things. Went over board with providing CD's for us to use. I loved sitting with him , checking people in. I will reallly miss him.
