Yes, I remember you very well. And you are working in a fabulous location, Trinity University! I graduated from there, along with Elizabeth Jordan, in May of 1977. Such a great school with beautiful views of downtown. I am envious that you get to see that daily. I have a special education degree from Trinity , and went on to get my Academic Language Therapist degree from Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. I taught privately until my girls were in elementary school, then taught at Fort Worth Country Day, as their language therapist, for 18 years. I retired from that and now just tutor children in my home in the afternoon, and I teach in a summer school program in Fort Worth every summer. This keeps me as busy as I want to be and I can travel with my husband. We WILL have a 50th, so please consider coming! We would all love to see you.

   Donna ruled the pool at Shady Oaks. The picture of you and Karen was taken during the summer of 1971. Already sporting a red badge as a teenage lifeguard, you had begun working at Shady Oaks to unselfishly save lives even before your work with the Red Cross.

   Neither you nor Karen ever smoked anything! The two of you were likely just showing off cigarette contraband, one of thousands left behind at the pool by Mrs. Sylvestry along with her empty martini glasses. It likely annoyed you as well that the highly social-conscious art teacher would also leave behind an oil slick of suntan lotion whenever she entered and exited the pool. No one glistened more beside the pool than Sylvestry, well not until her daughter showed up.

Geez - There are a lot of old memories flying around. Berna and Donna - just remember that all good things started at Mary Louise Phillips. It was great to visit with my old MLP friends David Pruden, Jean Stacy, Mary Helen Strain, Marc Monzingo, and Becky Bagby. I missed catching Karen Keil. A lot of good memories. Class of '73 is a great class!

I have so enjoyed reading all of your posts from the 45th reunion!!l do cherish my days st AHHS  but have to admit I was not too active in my years there!!  I was always a very shy person but have definitely come out of my shell!!  I do identify with Berna and Yvonne!!  I didn’t know if I would feel a “part of” the reunion or not but all of your messages are so warm and welcoming that I am sorry I did not come!!  Being unsure if people would remember me or not was so much a part of my mindset that I was uncomfortable committing!!  But y’all have reminded me that it is all part of being in the experience of our years at Heights and I will definitely make an effort to participate in future get togethers!!  After all I  do still live close by!!!!  My hubby and I are at the grand opening of Pinstripes!!  Love you all!!  Susan

Margaret, your name is familiar though I can't quite remember why. Thanks for the kind words. I guess I *was* one of the academic stars in high school, though i think my general willingness to do whatever the teachers told me to do had something to do with that.  Somehow I hung on to the illusion of being really smart until I got to graduate school -- where I met more than a few people who blew *me* away intellectually.  It's all relative?

Yvonne, if you were shy then it's no wonder I don't remember you.  High school can be socially difficult; I wasn't especially outgoing either. You found friends in band and the yearbook; I think I kept to myself a lot, though I have memories of being on the staff of the literary magazine as a senior (and oh how pretentious that was, if I remember right!  though it didn't seem so at the time).  

Donna, I remember a Donna Forester from Camp Fire Girls; is that you?  Spelling bees ....  Yeah, I have nice memories of doing really well in 6th grade and then somehow flubbing things in subsequent years. I still remember the shock, the last year i could compete, of missing a word I knew how to spell and thought I had gotten right (they had to play back the tape of me getting it wrong -- what I said was not what I meant to say!).  

Debbie, your name is also familiar. Cool that two of my former AHHS classmates are Trinity alums.  You are so right that it is really a great place; I feel very lucky to have landed a job here. Since you mention the nice campus: Recently it's been listed as a historic site by the National Park Sevice\ on the basis of the architecture; pretty cool. The campus *is* nice, but what I like is the people -- faculty, staff, and students.

Mike, your name is also familiar though I'm not remembering why. But we go back to elementary school?  Wow.  I remember Jean Stacy (she lived near me and our parents were political outliers -- in today's terms, blue points in a sea of red, if I remember right), and the other names you mention also sound familiar.

So many people I hadn't thought about in years!!

I have been reading all the comments, and am sorry I missed the reunion. I'm like Susan Fletcher; I didn't 'hang out' with most of you, but knew who you were. I doubted anyone would know me. Over the years, I've only stayed in touch with one or two friends. Sounds like you had a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the 50th.

Believe it or not, the first steps toward the 50th Reunion (AKA “The Big One”) have already begun. There is a new tab on the home page for information going forward, but in the mean time...

Please take a moment to review the Missing Classmates link on the upper left and find someone that you have contact information for and encourage them to register for this website. By the time the 50th Reunion rolls around, our goal is to reach a minimum of 60% of our class. That is a lot easier said than done and your help is needed as we are at 46% presently. Please note that our information is not and will not be shared with anyone... not Facebook, not Twitter, and no advertisers. It was designed that way from the beginning and will stay that way... Period.

Note: The Class of ‘72 site is above 60%. Are we going to let them beat us??

Thanks for posting, Earl. Sweet Mrs. Van Meter called me yesterday. She said it mean SO MUCH to Mr. Van Meter to attend our Reunion party this past summer! I saw in today's Star Telegram that Our Heights biology teacher, Arch W. Van Meter passed away at the age of 86, Sept. 21st, 2018.They later named a scholarship after him.

Funeral will be Fri. 28th at 11:00am at First United Methodist in Ft. Worth.

I attended his class and what a super nice guy, with a friendly smile and great sense of humor.

Yes, Arch Van Meter was great...I was in his class.  I know Ann Szablowski invited him and he came to our 45th Reunion in June....I didn't get a chance to see him though.  Always thought of him fondly. 

Also, Nelia McMillan's mother and Suzanne Lambert's mother died recently, at 98 and 94 respectively. 

Time is marching on.  Always fond memories of mothers. And yours Mack,,,loved your mom.

Hi AHHS and North Hi Mount folks, (November 29, 2018)

Such sad news.  Heart breaking, too young, too sudden.

Kim Michele Mummert passed away of an apparent heart attack.  She was found yesterday, Wed. November 28, 2018, by Farmers Branch police.  Her very long time significant other, AC, (and each had their own place) last saw her on Sunday.  He called Monday and Tuesday and when she did not respond by Wednesday morning he called the police to go in.  It appears she attempted to use the phone and it might have happened Sunday night.

AC contacted Suzanne Lambert, who called me tonight.

More information will follow.  Michele had very few living relatives, and not sure when and the next steps. 

Michele was someone we all could depend on, - she was thoughtful, generous, good natured and she will be missed.  I am still in shock.  We all just saw Michele with AC at the 45^th Reunion. 

Please post on the AHHS website, if you know how…..Michele knew how!!! And had recently posted!!

Bob was a great guy and I was very glad that we were friends!

I am so sorry that he passed away and my thoughts and prayers are with his family!
