John Anthony Duban! Glad u r on board. Let's get together soon. I'm going to be making up a bunch of stories for the reunion about all the exciting things I've done since graduation and I'd like you to vouch for me.

Just found this Message Forum. Hi, Duban! Want to play a little "two below" football before the Reunion? We'll have to find Tommy Takes and Jimmy Stouffer, too. I think I can still kick ya'lls butts! Anne

Anne,

That's some pretty tough talk.  How about a rematch at the 50 year reunion?  I've got Mike's golf tournament on Friday and I never schedule two big athletic events back to back.

Banner day on the website. Three classy classmates signed on: Leigh Ann Hill, Bill Gartner and Michelle Mummert. I've only known Michelle for 45 years and if I ever knew her actual first name was Kim, I forgot. So see, if you join the website and come to the reunion you might find out a lot of stuff about people you thought you knew well. Take me for instance: it was me that invented the internet, not Al Gore. John Duban will vouch for me.

Anne, Jim Stouffer says he's in, and also ask Jeff Nichols, Chip Payne, and Lindsey Long. Personally, I wouldn't trust Jim Stouffer's aim in keeping two hands below.

You are one to talk, Bill.

Claudia Hutchinson and Eunice Bratton McColm have done a great job organizing and producing this website. All of us on the Reunion organizing committee were hoping that more people would be posting on this Message Forum. I'm kind of guilty too, so I'll see if I can jump start things with some of my impressions about our class and the people in it. My hope is that you read this and it will trigger some impressions and memories you'd like to share here.

As freshmen, I remember feeling like our class got the short shrift: we'd been denied the opportunity to be the big dog seniors at our junior highs, and then had to be the first the first freshman class at AHHS in decades. I didn't always feel like we were welcomed. Most of our classes were in "the shacks". It was heartening that our freshman football team won district while the varsity had a dismal season and the JV barely broke even. We pummeled Paschal while the JV and varsity both lost to the despised Panthers. Then Ann Lindsay was named Most Beautiful. Then Casey Sanford and Chip Heald came in 3rd and 4th place in the pole vault at the district track meet. I started to feel like we belonged and that good things were to come.

Well, I have typed a lot of things about individual classmates that I want to share, but I'll save that for other postings. I hope others will respond to my impressions of our first year. Or give someone a shout-out that was special to you. Or tell us about someone you'd throttle now if you had the chance.

Houston,

I appreciate the "props" you delivered below, thanks!...I was talking with a few of our classmates recently and I told them that, at our age and position in life, if I was going to tell about any of the good things (achievements. etc.) that I felt obligated to tell the other side as well...so if I was going to tell that I was one of 3 of our classmates to became AHHS's first 4-year lettermen (Julian, Joe Ward, and myself...by the way Chip would have been there too if he had competed our Senior year), that I felt obligated to tell the other side.  So I am willing to "share" my Freshman GPA (which dug a hole about the size of the Grand Canyon) with anyone who was interested, NOT IN WRITING, sorry, but in conversation...let's just say I could be the poster-boy for "Life Ain't Really Fair, Is It"!

Humbly,

Casey

Committee Members and Classmates,

We've got 47 days until the reunion and counting!  We are almost to 30% of our classmates signing in on the website.  Everyone has been doing a great job seeking out our classmates.  Keep up the good work!  Let's get all 30% to sign up for the reunion.  Can't wait!

Eunice

I think my hair went the same way as my memory, the cartiledge in my knees, my reflexes....see, I told you doctors should be careful showing up to a reunion with a bunch of geezers

Barry,

Firstly, hair is highly overrated.  Those who know this truth are among the luckiest.  Secondly, I'm sorry to see that a good TTU Medical Graduate has ended up in Aggieland.  Now on the serious side, I can't wait to visit with you at the Reunion.  Glad that you are coming!!

Casey

Well, I'm glad I still have my hair, Casey! I think that is a girl thing!!!! Can't believe we are 6 weeks out for the Reunion!! I only ate 1/2 of my dessert last night...do you think that will help me look better? TeeHee! Can't wait to just laugh, talk, hug, reconnect, maybe meet for the first time, dance with, sing with, and just be thankful that we are all able to come together after 40 Years!!!! REALLY....seems like it was just yesterday that Miss Stovall was telling me "if I had any brains I would just take them out and play with them" or Mrs. Thompson was teanching me how to write a great article...I have used her outline ever since.....But.....now back to the hair thing/????????

Don Traylor

On this day in 1974, I enlisted in the Air Force and was on my way to Lackland AFB.  I had a dream to become an electronic technician and come back and be a sound man for a few of my friends.  There was no way of knowing I would spend the next 20 years of my life in a career I really didn't like.  Of course, I still haven't found a career that I like!

I'm always jealous of those who say they love their jobs.

Bo Walker

Wow, cool forum.....Great work ladies!

1) Casey & Houston, hair is overrated, I concur

2) Duban, thanks for the call about this reunion, looks like it will be well attended (watch your back with AnneZ)

3) Don Traylor, careers are like mother's-in-law, some are ok, but you always have to put up with some crap!

4) Jeff Henson (now deceased) left before graduation but he will always be class of 73

I look back at AHHS with fond memories and always feel like it was a very special class we had. Renee and I look forward to this reunion.

Doug and all that have registered,

We have been trying to find all of our classmates!  Please use Google, Facebook, Linked in, the phone book, etc and try to find these guys.  We would love help from everyone finding more of our friends in the next three weeks so they will be able to attend the Reunion!  It is going to be a blast!

Many thanks for your help!

Suzie (Suzanne) Jary

Suzie Jary here.  Found this Forum, too.  Trying to get some gals from North Hi Mount who went to Heights to come.  Tracey Nichols Spartin is coming all the way from British Columbia, Alberta, Canada....so.  Also, Nelia McMillan Blanton, Michele Mummert.  Will still blast with emails.  I moved back to Fort Worth 5 years ago for aging  mothers.  I am loving being here!
