Hi Everybody,
Jim Flowers and I have been in touch on this. He is in L.A. and has been with Bill's family over the last few days. He is in the best position and has agreed to act as primary liaison for the class as to the most appropriate manner in which to honor Bill. Let's sit tight and wait for his recommendations.
Sincerely,
Bill Davis

Bill, we definitely need Bill's family's approval. It still would be a good idea to consider a wall remembering some of AHHS' notable graduates. Without much thought I can come up with John Denver, Tony Franklin, possibly David Rutledge (Head of the Department of EE at Cal Tech.), Chris Holley (CFO Walmart), Pete Garen, Bayard Friedman. I am not sure if Mary Martin (Broadway actress and Peter Pan star) went to Heights but my mother, who did go to Heights, was friends with her. I am sure there are many others. We would have to get approval of the school and that may not be a slam dunk. Shannon

Also to consider Cedric Joseph, the first African American to play basketball at A&M. I know that there are a lot more. Shannon

It is too bad that Richard Rainwater went to Paschal, Darn! Shannon

Jimmy,
Thanks for being there or Bill's wife and family frist and foremost, but thank you for helping the rest of us grieve as well. I know this has been a gut punch for you.
All the best,
Houston
James Phillip Perkins
Margaret, thank you for your well spoken words and the reminder that relationships truly do matter.

Shannon, let's not forget some other past Yellow Jackets. Van Williams was TV's Green Hornet, Delbert McClinton was in my dads Sunday School Class at Birchman Avenue Baptist Church and is in the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame and let's not forget that Mike Renfro excited a lot of us on the gridiron.

TOTALLY AGREE, I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE! WE COULD DEDICATE THE MEMORIAL BOARD TO BILL DUE TO HIS ESPECIALLY TRAGIC AND UNEXPECTED DEATH, AND THEN LIST THE OTHER HONOREES...
Jerry Boydstun
Houston, please set a meeting to discuss, at an appropriate time. Lots of good ideas brought up.
The intent should be first to express sympathy for Bill's family, relying on Jim and those closest to the family for input.
I was suggesting a 'Class of '73, remembering one of our own' in whatever form and including a standing flower fund for any other of the class that leave us.
If the other classes wish to recall their classmates, if they have not already, good on them.

IT COULD BE FUN TO GET TOGETHER AND WATCH ONE OF BILL'S MOVIES, OR EXCERPTS, AND HAVE THE WALL DEDICATION CEREMONY BEFORE OR AFTER. I AM WATCHING TWO OF HIS MOVIES THIS WEEKEND. SHANNON
